What is a Power Unit?

CAT PUMPS Power Units are pumping systems that we design, build and customize to your application. To create a customized Power Unit for you, we review the application, liquid being pumped, location of installation, the power required to drive the pump and the duty-cycle. This information is combined with the custom requirements you provide to select the best pump and accessories for the task and determine the design of the Power Unit.
Each Power Unit design includes a rugged, heavy-duty base, a pump[s] and system accessories. Your Power Unit design may require a horizontal base or stacked; single pump or multiple pumps or mobile with handle and wheels. Each Power Unit design requires different drive options such as electric, hydraulic, gas or diesel power or you may need something special like an
ATEX motor. The pump and accessories are matched
for compatibility with the pumped liquid. All Power Unit
designs include a primary safety valve and a secondary
safety valve for accurate pressure setting and system
over-pressure protection. Once we build your Power
Unit, it completes our standard tests for flow, pressure,
amp draw and any leaks or vibration. Custom tests or drawings can be completed per your requests.
