What type of pump are CAT PUMPS®?
 CAT
PUMPS are triplex, positive displacement,
reciprocating, high-pressure pumps. They are the most
cost-effective design for achieving high efficiency
and low pulsation. Although CAT PUMPS® do operate down
to a ¼ GPM and 100 PSI, the majority of our applications are
at much higher flows up to 240 GPM and higher pressures up
to 7000 PSI. The
output [flow] of our positive displacement, triplex
piston and plunger pumps is directly proportional to the
operating RPM. If the pump RPM increases by 20%, the flow
out the pump will increase by 20%. The pressure is adjusted
by the amount of restriction in the discharge line,
typically by a regulator or unloader, nozzle[s] or trigger
gun[s] or a combination of devices. Each
CAT PUMP has three synchronized piston [plunger]
rods, referred to as a triplex design, delivering a
smooth, consistent flow. CAT PUMPS® are 30-50% more
efficient than most pumps and the triplex design of
our piston and plunger pumps reduces 90% of
the pulsation.The CAT PUMPS® have been designed for continuous-duty performance. CAT PUMPS® are liquid pumps performing best when pumping non-abrasive, moderate pH liquids including city water, filtered reclaim water, oils, cleaning solutions, pesticides, agricultural chemicals, seawater, dionized [D.I.] water, pharmaceutical products and some food products at moderate to high pressures. CAT PUMPS® liquid pumps are also suitable for pumping high temperature and high vapor liquids such as CO2. Each CAT PUMP is matched with system accessories to assure optimum performance and system protection. Primary and secondary pressure relief valves such as Pressure Regulators, Pressure Unloaders and Pop-Off Valves, Pulsation Dampeners [Accumulators], inlet pressure regulators and C.A.T. [Captive Acceleration Tube], plus a variety of system enhancing accessories for industrial cleaning applications. The pump and system accessories can be purchased individually or as a custom engineered Power Unit. |
