| Can Cat PumpsŪ pump liquids with suspended solids? |
| Pumping liquids with suspended solids is not recommended for standard CAT PUMPS models. Suspended solids can become trapped in the valves of the pump or other accessories and cause a malfunction. Some suspended solids may be a smaller micron size, but abrasive in nature. Cat Pumps are suitable to some reclaim water systems. | What liquids do Cat PumpsŪ handle? |
| Cat PumpsŪ are quite versatile in the liquids they can pump, however, they do not handle highly explosive or flammable liquids, trash, mud, abrasive liquids or suspended solids. Cat Pumps can handle a variety of water types including: fresh, DI [dionized], salt water and reclaim water. Cat Pumps also are compatible with cleaning solutions, pesticides, fertilizers, clean and crude oils, mild acidic and pH chemicals [5-9 pH range], lubricants, HWBF, high vapor liquids and some food products. High temperature water up to 210F is acceptable. Special flushed pumps provide cooling for extended seal life with high temperature liquids and added lubrication with low lubricity liquids. High vapor liquids such as CO2 are acceptable with special CO2 pump models designed for these liquids. High viscosity liquids up to 600 CPS or 2500 SSU are permissible and slightly higher with a pressurized inlet. Remember, combining chemicals, high RPM or high temperature can change the compatibility or characteristics of your liquid.
