Why are the tab washers used on the connecting rods?
Tab washers are used on all 25FR, 35FR and 60FR pumps. They offer an added safety feature to assure the connecting rod nuts do not loosen. Drive-end servicing should be done by a qualified technician. Connecting rods are stamped with an identification number. Each set should be mated and installed as such. Proper torquing is essential. After torquing the connecting rods, turn the pump over by hand. If properly assembled and torqued, it should turn freely. The pump service manual provides the required torque specifications.
