| The center distance is usually governed by the design of the machinery. Center distance is the distance between the center of the pump shaft and the center of the driving shaft (electric motor, gas engine, diesel engine). Center distance is a result of the pitch diameters of the pulleys selected and the length of belt. Consult Cat Pumps for complete Drive Packages different performances for each pump and eliminate the wory of calculating center distance.
You can contact your pulley/sheave supplier for assistance. You may also select one of CAT PUMPS’ DRIVE PACKAGES from Tech Bulletin 003. These drive packages are already sized for various pump models and performances. The allowable center distance for each drive package is also shown.
