| What is a reciprocating pump? |
| CAT PUMPS are triplex [three piston or plunger] pumps. They are positive displacement, reciprocating pumps. With each revolution of the crankshaft there is a direct motion in the plunger rods [piston] resulting in a positive output of flow from the pump. In the triplex pumps, there are three synchronized plunger [piston] rods contributing to the output. This output of the pump [flow] is in direct relation with the RPM of the pump. The bore and stroke determine the amount of liquid handled with each revolution. Visit our PRODUCT SELECTOR section, How CAT PUMPS Work, for more information on piston, plunger, SF and flushed pump styles. |
