Up to 70% of oil is left in the oilfield’s reservoir after primary and secondary production recovery methods are completed. Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), also known as improved oil recovery or tertiary recovery, is an oil recovery enhancement method to continue production after primary and secondary efforts are done. The purpose of EOR is to restore reservoir pressure and improve oil displacement or fluid flow in the reservoir.

Methods of Enhanced oil recovery:

  • Thermal Recovery – Involves introducing heat with the injection of steam which helps the oil move better by lowering the viscosity, thinning the heavy viscous oil and allowing it to flow to the production well easier. Cat Pumps are commonly used on steam trucks to provide the flow and pressure required for optimal steam injection.
  • CO2 Injection – Liquid CO2 acts as a solvent and a pressurizing agent in the reservoir to push oil towards the production well. Cat Pumps has provided liquid CO2 pumping solutions for over 30 years, and are commonly relied upon for CO2 injection applications.
  • Chemical Injection – Involves injecting polymers and surfactants into the reservoir to help oil move towards the production well. With Cat Pumps proven dependability and extensive product range, Cat Pumps are frequently used for chemical injection.

Cat Pumps provides quality, proven products that are readily available making it the pump of choice for enhanced oil recovery methods.

With field-proven dependability in applications around the globe, Cat Pumps provides the best value for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) systems.
