Piston Pumps are typically better suited to applications requiring medium pressures up to 1500 PSI or when suction inlet is necessary. The mechanically actuated inlet valves and UNIFLOW design provides an excellent fluid flow through the pump and strong suction capabilities. For negative suction applications, the flat valve option also offers additional valve seating for stronger suction. There are several Frame sizes [horsepower groups] in the piston pump group. Within each frame, you can modify the cylinders and piston assemblies to accommodate different performances. Single pump performance up to 60GPM. Plunger Pumps because of their uniquely supported Hi-Pressure Seal design are better suited to higher pressures above 1500 PSI. They offer greater versatility with optional manifolds of forged brass, cast 316SS, block-style 316SSL and Duplex Alloys. The plunger pumps operate at higher RPM and have various drive options including the traditional belt drive, direct-drive motor-pump, flexible coupling and bell housing, clutch or gearbox for direct mount to gas/diesel engines. The plunger pumps also have several Frame sizes with single pump performance up to 320 GPM. Corrosion Resistant, Stainless Steel Pumps are available in either piston or plunger pump style. Our piston pumps come with 316 Stainless Steel manifolds, however, the cylinders and sleeves remain chrome-plated 304SS. Our plunger pumps have two corrosion resistant options: 316SS manifold heads or Nickel Aluminum Bronze Heads. Both these corrosion resistant pump models feature 316SS valve assemblies and solid ceramic plungers. The cast SS heads are suitable for most applications requiring SS and the machined Block-Style SSL offer added corrosion resistance for harsher applications. Our SS pumps are used in sea water desalination [reverse osmosis], DI water misting, food products, chemicals, oils, herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers. Coordinating accessories match each pump model. Corrosion Resistant, Block-Style Stainless Steel Pumps are machined from a 316SSL block offering a high-strength, corrosion resistant manifold for extended life in very harsh conditions such as sea water, leachate and oil processing. Our special K-version, Block-Style pumps offer a specially ported inlet manifold that permits an external liquid flush between the Lo-Pressure and Hi-Pressure Seals providing added lubrication and protection when pumping high temperature liquids or to contain effluent emissions. These block-style pumps also feature 316SS valve assemblies and corrosion resistant solid ceramic plunger. Flushed Pumps [Patent Pending] Special flushed pumps feature a ported inlet manifold that permits an external flush. This flush significantly extends seal life and provides cooling when pumping hot liquids and added lubrication when pumping low lubricity liquids. Both cast manifold C and Block-Style K flushed pump models are available. View how the flushed pump works. Belt Drive Drive is the optimum drive choice, as it provides complete flow flexibility and added shock absorption for your system. By changing the pulley size, you can quickly adjust the flow output of your pump. CAT PUMPS offers a full range of bare-shaft piston and plunger pumps suitable for belt-drive. For your convenience we offer complete Drive Packages [including pulleys, hubs, keys and belts] for a number of different performances for each of our pumps. Review Technical Bulletin 003 for our complete selection. These drive packages make your system component sourcing convenient and your assembly quick. Our standard center distances are also provided for each pump frame. Enter your belt-drive pump requirements at our Product Selector-Select a Pump to find your next pump. Gearbox Drive is used on the heavy-duty, gas engine, portable pressure cleaning units. The gearbox mounts directly to a variety of plunger pumps. It steps the higher RPM of the engine down through gears to match with the lower RPM of the pump. It offers portability and quick coupling to a gas engine. Flanged and Direct Drive offer a more economical direct-mount option than the gearbox pumps. These pumps have a built-in flange [DX] or an adapter [SF] with the pump. The engine or electric motor shaft fits into a special hollow shaft on these SF and DX pumps, making an ultra compact unit for commercial or intermittent duty pressure cleaning. Clutch Drive is another convenience for the smaller, portable cleaning units. It offers the quality of a belt drive system and permits remote disengaging of the pump when the flow is not required. Disengaging the pump when not needed, reduces pump wear and conserves energy. Misting Pumps come in many sizes. The very popular mist cooling, temperature control units for pool decks, outdoor restaurants, sports arenas and onboard pleasure craft use the 2DX-MIST pumps. These DX pumps deliver from .5 GPM @ 1725 RPM up to 2.7 GPM @ 3450 RPM and fit the ultra-compact profile needed for this installation. For larger, continuous-duty applications, our 18- 68 Frame stainless steel pumps are used by major OEMs for DI water gas turbine inlet cooling/fogging systems. Other models are used for crop misting, odor control, lumber humidification and dust suppression. Let us help you select a pump for your needs. Pulsating-Jetter Pumps Some plunger pump models can be specially ported either in the valve plug or discharge manifold to by-pass the pumped liquid in one chamber back to the inlet. This feature creates the effect of a two-cylinder pump and adds pulsation for additional cleaning action. This feature enables the seals to be fully lubricated to ensure long life. A ball valve permits returning to standard operation when jetting is not required. Presently the 2SF, 5CP, 5 Frame 45, 7 Frame 56-60, 7 Frame 530-550, 15 Frame 650-1050 and 66DX models can be fitted with the pulsator kits. Inquire about other models to meet your application needs.

Custom Engineered Power Units offer the convenience of a professionally engineered and tested assembly without all the work. The package includes base, belt guard, drive [electric, vari-drive, gas, diesel, hydraulic motor], pump and system accessories. The bases for these power units are rugged, heavy-duty construction of 3/8" steel or 304SS with ¼" channel steel under bracing to assure maximum weight and load and minimum flexing. The belt guard is re-enforced, 13-gauge flattened, expanded metal, ½" mesh offering ventilation and protection. Both the base and belt-guard have a durable 2 mil, epoxy, powder-coated finish to prevent rust or scuffing. These bases are typically flat with contour turned ends for safety and heavy-duty bolt-down shock mounts. They are also available with handle and wheels or in a stacked version with a compact footprint. For the electric drive units a two screw adjustable motor base is used to simplify belt tension and adjustment. Any number of custom options can be included such as special paint or explosion proof motors. All Power Units are fully tested before shipment, packed in a wooden crate for protection during transport and generally available in 2-8 weeks. You select the components, CAT PUMPS designs the system. Complete the form under Power Units and received a custom quote. |
